Elektronik müzik, elektronik aletler yardımıyla yapılan müzik türüne verilen bir isimdir. Genellikle elektronik aletler düşük kuvvetli sistemler ve transistör, tümleşik devre gibi parçalar kullanır. Bu tanıma göre, elektromekanik anlamda ses üreten enstrümanlarla elektronik öğeler kullanarak ses üreten enstrümanlar arasında ayrım yapılabilir. Elektromekanik enstrümanlara Telharmonium, ve elektro gitar gibi enstrümanlar örnek verilebilirken, elektronik enstrümanlara da Theremin, synthesizer ve bilgisayar örnekleri verilebilir.
Elektronik müziğin bir türü olan Ambient, Brian Eno’nun gelişimine ışık tuttuğu Ambient; FSOL (Future Sound of London), The Orb, Biosphere ve Woob gibi yeni akımlarla günümüzdeki düşündürücü, derin ve de farklılığı her zaman ön planda hissettiren şeklidir.
